As VP Software at Vässla, you will enter a vibrant company in full scale-up mode and create super modern, top-of-the-line solutions/product, plus help tackle climate change while doing it!

ABOUT VÄSSLA

Vässla AB was founded in 2017 by Rickard Bröms. We make the Nordic region's best-selling electric moped and perhaps the world's best vehicle - Vässla Bike. Last year, we launched Vässla Club, a subscription plan that includes those that don't want to buy our products but wants to ride them.  

We have big ambitions. We aim to be the leading Micromobility brand on a global market. We currently operate in Sweden, Germany and Spain, and our plan is to open seven more markets this year.

THE POSITION

We are looking to strengthen our small but rapidly growing software development team with a passionate Tech leader. You will be responsible for the day-to-day progress, providing technical guidance and direction. You will strengthen your team’s performance, growth and translate business needs into great software solutions. Initially you will run a smaller team and be involved in hands-on development. But as the team grows, your role will be more strategical and focused on overall team-, technical-, and project management in close collaboration with other business areas.  

We hope that you are comfortable in working with our React Native front-end and our microservice based Typescript backend. A “jack of all trades” that loves exploring the latest technologies. If you consider yourself to be a tech-savy disruptor, innovative enabler, etc and would like to play a central role in the creation of our future products – we would love to see you in our team! 

Our tech stack is focused on Smart Effort - High impact and we are looking for someone that shares this philosophy. We use a lot of microservices and “serverless” to achieve our goals and have an app in active use built on React Native.

Key Responsibilities:

    Supervising and leading our Tech Team

    Organizing, structuring, and overseeing projects and sprints 

    Setting up product road maps

    Cooperating with other stakeholders 

    Managing software development

    Handling of multiple ongoing projects

    Handling employee/ team trainings

We believe that your experience and toolbox includes some or all of the following:

    Knowledge of React, Next.js, Node.js (14+), GraphQL, React Native, Typescript

    Project leader skills

    Worked as team leader for 5+ developers

    Scrum/Kanban leader

    Earlier work as team leader required

    Likes / interested in / experience with microservices and serverless architecture

    Good communicator with an engineering mindset

    Interested and engaged in shaping the future of the app as a product. 

    Flexible in tech, loves to explore and find new tech

We’re on a mission. Our cities are messed up, thanks to traffic congestion leading to an overwhelming climate change for our planet. This needs to stop. It’s our mission to make short-distance travels sweet and clean for our environment.

2. Low effort - high impact

Do only stuff that takes little effort to do but will have a great impact on many. Everything else must wait. Doing something irrelevant doesn't make it important.

3. Embrace change

One thing is for sure. We will change our minds loads. It can be anything. So you need to appreciate and cope with all types of change. We must and should change small things but also really heavy strategic stuff in a fast moving context. Start-ups are about flexibility.

4. Yes-man mentality

Nos are for people working at a bank. We say Yes to most things. We are up for a challenge and love new stuff. We rush into decisions without overanalyzing them. 50% analysis and 50% gut feeling. Trust it We never let admin or hard work be in the way for greatness. Also, cheer people up. Share happiness and excitement with your surroundings. Give more than you take. 5. Output obsession

Work is easy. Producing relevant and high-quality output is hard. Vässla is aimed at the latter. Minimize irrelevant emailing and unnecessary meetings. Just put all your efforts and brainpower into producing output. Don’t just keep yourself busy.

6. Always be scrappy

Vässla will grow up and become loads of people. It’s really easy to lose respect for money and the importance of being creative. Always strive to be scrappy. Always try to find a way to make huge projects small. Expensive activities are cheap. Hard things are simple. There is always a way.

7. Non douche bag policy

It’s simple. No matter how much money or fame at stake, we will never do business, cooperate or have anything to do with douchebags. If you sense one, just cut him/her loose immediately. Period.
